GLC Releases Draft White Paper for Public Comment: Addresses Key Challenges in Technology-Enhanced Learning, Data Sharing

The Global Learning Council (GLC), a consortium of leaders in the field of education from academia, industry and nonprofits, released a first draft of a white paper that includes proposed recommendations regarding technology-enhanced learning (TEL) and the sharing of learning data.

The paper, „Technology-Enhanced Learning: Best Practices and Data Sharing in Higher Education“ (pdf), is available for public comment and will be shared with higher education leaders over the next few months.

The draft paper is the result of the council’s work following its inaugural meeting in September 2014 in Pittsburgh, PA, during which the GLC identified the need for common principles and sources of information around best practices in the design and adoption of TEL environments and tools, as well as a common framework for sharing learning data in higher education. The draft white paper offers nine specific recommendations for the implementation of best practices in TEL and sharing learning data.

The draft is being presented on April 20 to the Association of American Universities (AAU), in June to the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU), and is being more widely circulated for discussion, comment and feedback in the higher education, technology, government and nonprofit communities.

Institutions are invited to submit information about their own activities that exemplify the best practice recommendations suggested by the GLC. Submissions will be compiled and referenced on the GLC website and final paper, which is being targeted for release at the end of 2015 or early 2016.
